Brahms Requiem

Aaron Copland's The Tender Land Suite evokes images of open space, community celebration and connection, and hope for the future, and is paired with Brahm’s heart-wrenching and deeply personal Requiem, with prayerful music for both the living and the dead. Spurred by the loss of his mother, he turned to his true religion—music—as a way to console himself and others.

“You are now sorrowful; grieve not: I will again behold you, and then your heart shall be joyful, and your joy shall no one take from you.”
— Lyrics, Brahms' Requiem
